Treatment for breast cancer

Treatment includes radiotherapy,chemotherapy, hormonal therapy and surgery depending on the stage, histology and Immunohistochemistry

  1. Radiotherapy is the use of X-rays to kill cancer cells.

2. Chemotherapy is the use of drugs to kill cancer cells and stop them from dividing.

4. Surgery involves removal of the tissues with cancer.

Types include:

  1. Breast conserving surgery(BCT) –  Breast conserving surgery is  a type of surgery that focuses on the removal of cancerous breast tissue only.

2. Mastectomy. 

Mastectomy involves the removal of the entire breast and, depending on the specific procedure, possibly other structures, such a lymph nodes and muscles
