Esophagogastroduodenoscopy-EGD is the best initial confirmatory test to confirm a mass or any abnormality in the oesophagus.

This involves visualizing the digestive tract with an endoscope ( a tube with a camera).

A biopsy( tissue) can be taken if there is a suspicious lesion. Once the tissue has been analysed and cancerous are identified on the biopsy specimen only then can one confirm a diagnosis of esophageal Cancer.

Then we have tests that check whether the disease has spread to other organs.They include CT scans of the abdomen and chest. These are images of the abdomen and chest regions.
